France is in a catastrophic financial state, with a huge debt load. They have raised taxes as much as they possibly can. There is simply no one and nothing else to tax. Some Americans are gloating almost as they report this. George Will reminds us that we are in a similar state, and neither Republican nor Democrat will do anything about it.
